Southern Seawater Desalination Project
The continually drying climate, population growth and economic development in Western Australia have placed greater demand on water resources and additional, climate independent, potable sources have been required. 360 Environmental assisted the Water Corporation in conducting a coastal study from Bunbury in south-western WA to Jurien, north of Perth, examining a range of environmental, social and economic constraints for the siting of a large-scale seawater desalination facility.
This study resulted in a site in Binningup, approximately 30km north of Bunbury, being selected for the location of Western Australia’s 100GL potable water source.
360 Environmental was commissioned by the Water Corporation to conduct work including:
- Flora Surveys
- Fauna Surveys and long term studies (Western Ringtail Possum)
- Marine & Coastal Studies
- Impact Assessments
- Aboriginal Heritage Surveys
360 Environmental is undertaking the marine water quality monitoring program on behalf of the Southern Seawater Alliance.
